Treat the underlying cause rather than the addiction itself

There are many addictions that rule someone’s life. Substance addiction such as alcohol and drug and more behaviour type addictions, such as work, shopping, internet or gambling. Hypnotherapy is a complementary therapy which enables you to delve into the root cause which is normally a past trauma causing uncomfortable feelings and prevents us from being our own ‘self’. We can become addicted to just about anything that helps us avoid these feelings.

Most people suffering from addiction or dependency do want to stop and live a normal, healthy and happy life. I understand that this is easier said than done.

How does hypnotherapy help addiction?

Addiction is often a symptom of something far deeper which has been stored in the subconscious mind. The most important thing is to treat the underlying cause rather than the addiction itself. Often, you won’t even know what has caused this negative addictive behaviour.

Repetition and persistency are required in order to be effective in working with substance and other addictions since there may be changes in the way your brain functions and in your body chemistry.

Usually behind addiction lies shock and trauma as well as specific events - and sometimes it can go back years. A specific event which has created a split within the relationship with yourself. Only when it’s understood what has gone on before can the issue be resolved properly freeing you from your addiction.

Unconscious feelings can cause pain and negative self-belief and addiction is a way of numbing these feelings. Hypnotherapy can release these feelings and in turn, reduce the addictive behaviours.

Hypnotherapy has been shown to make a positive contribution to ending addiction and works especially well as part of a combined approach to the problem using a recognised recovery programme where you can benefit from additional personal support.

"I had a wonderful experience with Angie. She was professional, warm, reassuring and I felt completely at ease in her hands. I found the experience to be very enlightening and it allowed me to reflect on memories I never knew I had. I can't wait to go back."
